Several regional police commissioners and military chiefs are now meeting in Guyana to discuss ways of tackling the escalating crime in the Caribbean.

The security chiefs are meeting in Guyana, where two mass killings in January and February left 23 people dead.

The three day meeting, which began yesterday, is expected to produce an action plan to stem the rising criminality in the region.

The Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Gary Best has called for a re-examination of current legislation, and the collaboration of resources.
