Some clerical workers at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) are on strike.

The approximately 70 employees who work in the hospital’s outpatient services are upset about working conditions at the institution.

Director of Clinical Services at the Hospital, Dr. Trevor McCartney said supervisory personnel are working in the affected areas.

He said a meeting with the representatives of the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU) is scheduled later today in an effort to resolve the issues.
