UK government against biofuels delay

Government ministers in the United Kingdom are against calls to delay the requirement for all petrol and diesel pumps to provide biofuels.

The use of biofuels to partially power vehicles in the UK is to take effect next month.

However, a coalition of pressure groups including Greenpeace and Oxfam are calling for the government to delay the move.

Government adviser, Professor Robert Watson is suggesting that a review of biofuels must first be completed.

Professor Watson is warning that it would be unwise to have a policy to increase the output of harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

The government ministers are pressing ahead with their plan to have biofuels at all petrol pumps.
