NWC awaits tariff increase

The National Water Commission (NWC) should know in another month whether its application for a 44 percent tariff increase would be granted.

The tariff increase will reflect the price adjustments for water that customers will be required to pay.

Director of Communications and Customer Services at the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR), David Geddes, said the company is reviewing submissions from members of the public.

He said the review process is not likely to be completed before the end of April.

Corporate Public Relations Manager at the NWC, Charles Buchanan said the commission has been faced with significant challenges in meeting the needs of its customers.

He said the quality of services offered by the NWC has also been affected by the delay in the rate increase.

The NWC last received a rate increase in 2004.
