Johnny Briceno is to be sworn in as leader of the opposition at the next sitting of Parliament in Belize.

Mr. Briceno, who replaces former Prime Minister, Said Musa was elected as leader of the main opposition People’s United Party (PUP) on Sunday.

Mr. Briceno received 320 votes, ahead of his opponent Francis Fonseca who received 310 votes.

He said there was a need for a change in the leadership of the party, especially after its defeat in last month’s general election.
