The promoter of the recently held British Link Up dance at the La Roose Club in Portmore St. Catherine has been fined $80,000 for breaching the Noise Abatement Act.

Yvonne Reid, 34, of Marley Court in St. Andrew appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrates court yesterday.

The charges arose from an incident at the club where several persons were shot, one fatally at approximately 7.45 a.m. on March 22.

A gun battle between men said to be licensed firearm holders resulted in the death of 41 year old Clifton Reid, of Anthony Road in Kingston.

The police reported that the license firearm holders were involved in a dispute when they began firing shots at each other.

Six other persons were injured during the incident.

On Monday, Commissioner of Police, Rear Admiral Hardly Lewin said the police would be reviewing the process through which permits are granted to promoters of some events.

Admiral Lewin said he is to receive recommendations for dealing with night noise and the enforcement of the Noise Abatement Act by Friday.
