The National Works Agency (NWA) is carrying out flood repairs and mitigation works to roadways in three parishes valued at almost $30 million.

The agency said contractors are currently constructing retaining walls in three communities in St. Catherine, St. Andrew and Portland.

Work is now underway along a main road in Centre Cut, St. Catherine while Gabion walls are being constructed in Lawrence Tavern, St. Andrew and Riverview in Portland.

Communications and Customer Services Manager, Stephen Shaw said work is expected to last for another four months.

He said the projects are part of the NWA’s New Works Programme geared towards 2007 disaster repairs and mitigation.
