Prisoners affected by chicken pox outbreak
Several prisoners at the Spanish Town lock up are receiving treatment following an outbreak of chicken pox at the facility.
It is reported that the outbreak was noticed on Sunday when five of the more than 50 inmates began showing symptoms of the sickness.
Police reports are that relatives of the affected prisoners had began giving them ointments.
However, medical treatment was sought after the ointments proved ineffective.
Personnel at the lockup said they are fearful that the highly contagious virus might affect them.
