Jamaica suffer defeat

Jamaica lost both matches on yesterday’s third day of the International Tennis Federation pre-qualifying event of the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup in Honduras.



Jamaica suffered its first defeat from three games. The Jamaicans were beaten 2-1 by Cuba.



Lauren Vranov-Brown put Jamaica 1-0 ahead with a straight set 6-2, 6-3 victories over Licien Pacheco of Cuba.



However, the Cubans leveled the scores 1-1 after Number One seed, Jessica Gomex defeated Simone Vranov-Brown 6-4, 6-3,



In the deciding game, the Cuban pair of Hisaime Mendez and Jessica Gomez outclassed Jamaicans Shantal Blackwood and Lauren Vranov-Brown 6-1, 6-1.



Dominican Republic defeated Jamaica 2-1 in the Junior Davis Cup.



Brandon Burke won the only game for Jamaica, following 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Oscar Dominiquez.
