US to help Haiti
United States President, George W. Bush said Haiti is among the countries to first benefit from a US$200 million emergency aid programme to help to alleviate the global food crisis.
The Whitehouse said the additional food aid would address the impact of rising prices and help to meet the needs of developing countries.
The US is already the largest provider of emergency food aid.
It helps about 23 million people living in the world\'s poorest countries.
