Portmore water woes

Mayor of Portmore, Keith Hinds is expressing concern over the frequent disruption in the water supply in Portmore.

Mr. Hinds said residents of several communities in the Greater Portmore area, Gregory Park and in Hellshire have been affected.

He said the citizens are now becoming frustrated, as the National Water Commission (NWC) has not been trucking water into the affected areas.

Mr. Hinds pointed out that only one unit was sent into Portmore yesterday to supply water to several communities.

The mayor said the problem, which has been ongoing for several weeks needs to be addressed.

He said while the parish council would be willing to assist in trucking water to the different communities, the council does not have a water truck.

Communication Manager at NWC, Charles Buchanan said the disruption in yesterday’s water supply was as a result of technical problem, which developed on the major water supply system serving Portmore.
