Budget for anti-doping in sports increased

Sports Minister Olivia Grange said the government is planning to allocate $53.3 million for Anti-Doping in Sports.



The budget for Anti-Doping in Sports last year was $8.6 million.



Minister Grange also said the government is moving speedily ahead regarding the legislation to bring the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission into full operation.



She said the bill to establish the Commission will be fast tracked.



The Sports Minister further said the grant to Independence Park Limited has been increased from $13.2 million to $36.2 million this year.



Independence Park Limited manages the complex comprising the National Stadium, the National Arena and the National Indoor Sports Centre.



She said the budget for sports development moves from $43 million last year to $90 million this year.
