Mullings meets sugar industry stakeholders
Energy Minister, Clive Mullings is now meeting with stakeholders in the sugar industry to discuss the use of ethanol as an alternative source of energy.
Ethanol, also known as drinking alcohol is produced from fermented sugarcane.
Mr. Mullings said the ethanol will replace an enhancer in the petroleum known as M-T-B-E, which has been raising health concerns.
He says the timeline for the roll-out of the ten percent ethanol blend will also be finalised.
The use of ethanol as an alternative source of energy is part of the government’s plans for fuel conservation.
