OECS elects new Chief Justice

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States secretariat has elected Justice Hugh Anthony Rawlins to be the next Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.



The appointment takes effect tomorrow.



Mr. Rawlins will act as Chief Justice until his appointment is confirmed by head of the Commonwealth, Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II.



Justice Rawlins, a national of St. Kitts and Nevis, is currently a Court of Appeal Judge with the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.



He takes over from outgoing Acting Chief Justice, Sir Brian Alleyne of Dominica, who retires today.
