SDF bails out PLCA

The state-run Sports Development Foundation (SDF) has given the Premier League Clubs’ Association (PLCA) $10 million to close the gap in its budget for the season, which ends on May 11.

Just over a week ago, the SDF had denied a financial request from the PLCA to run the National Premier League after the association severed ties with former sponsor Cash Plus Limited.

Edward Seaga, chairman of the PLCA said the request was turned down because of a misunderstanding with the amount applied for.

Mr. Seaga said the gap was $28 million but the application to the SDF was for $10 million dollars.

The National Commercial Bank Foundation donated $8 million to the PLCA for prize monies.
