The Supreme Court has barred the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) from evicting the operators of a restaurant at the Jamaica Conference Centre, in downtown Kingston.

The UDC had indicated that it was not renewing the tenancy of Kaieteure Foods Limited, which expired on Wednesday.

The operators of the restaurant, who are represented by Attorney-at-law Franklyn Halliburton went to court yesterday asking for time to remove its equipment from the premises.

After hearing submissions, acting Supreme Court Judge Sarah James Thompson gave the operators 14 days in which to remove the equipment.

UDC has been barred from preventing the operators access to the premises.
