St. Catherine win Cricket Cup

St Catherine Saints yesterday won the inaugural Jamaica Super League Cricket Cup after gaining first innings points from hosts Melbourne Kangaroos.

The three points earned from the drawn match carries St. Catherine Saints to an unassailable 25 points with one round to be played next weekend.

Resuming yesterday on three for one chasing St. Catherine Saints’ 465, Melbourne were bowled out for 136.

Batting a second time, St. Catherine Saints declared on 244 for four with Dean Morgan getting 116 and Shacoya Thomas 101.

Hosts Trelawny Buccaneers beat the Jamaica Defence Force Brigades by an innings and 57 runs.

JDF Brigades 162 and 81, and Trelawny Buccaneers 300.

Kingston Tigers and Westmoreland Wizards battled to a draw.

Kingston Tigers 250 against the bowling of Adrian Thompson five for 82 and Derval Green four for 15.

Westmoreland Wizard 123 with Nehemian Perry getting five for 29 and 168 for five following on.

Manchester Lions defeated St Elizabeth Sharks by eight wickets.
