Businesses in Ocho Rios concern

Several business people in Ocho Rios whose establishments were flooded last month are fearful that they could suffer a similar fate if remedial work is not done as quickly as possible.

The business people point out that the necessary corrective work on the drains that contribute to the flooding in the town is still to be done.

They said if another period of heavy rainfall occurs, the town would not be able to escape another flooding.

Among those voicing concern is prominent in-bond merchant, Kumar Sujanani, who said his colleagues are worried each time it becomes overcast.

Last month, flood rains crippled commercial business in sections of the resort town for more than four days.
