The 86 Ghanians and Nigerians who had been stranded in Barbados since mid-February have been sent home.

The group, which was part of a larger group of West Africans who arrived in Barbados in February for a two-week holiday, was abandoned after their Ghana International Airlines charter never returned.

The Africans have reportedly been sent home under high security, accompanied by an official from the Ghanian Embassy in Cuba.

The Barbados Immigration Minister, Senator Maxine McClean, said a full investigation would be conducted into the matter, as well as a review of the relevant immigration laws, including the issuing of visas.
