December 20 has been set as the new date for the swearing in of a new mayor of St. Ann‘s Bay and other members of the St. Ann Parish Council.

Yesterday a court action, challenging the result of the December 5 local government election by one losing People’s National Party (PNP) candidate forced the postponement of the swearing-in ceremony.

Losing PNP candidate for the Dry Harbour division, Arthur Clemetson, has filed for a magisterial recount of votes.

PNP councillor for the Brown’s Town division, Ivan Anderson, is expected to take over the leadership of the council when the ceremony takes place next Thursday.

He will take over from Delroy Giscombe of the Jamaica Labour Party.
