Spanish Supreme Court rejects suit against Castro
Spain\'s highest criminal court has rejected a suit accusing Cuban leader Fidel Castro of genocide, terrorism and torture.
The suit was filed in the wake of a 1961 US-backed bid to topple Castro’s government.
According to the court the suit is inadmissible.
Castro and a former Government minister were specifically accused of the murder of nine prisoners captured during the Bay of Pigs invasion. The prisoners died as a result of asphyxiation.
The judges upheld a lower court\'s decision that the alleged acts did not constitute genocide, terrorism or torture.
