The Glenhope Place of Safety in Maxfield Park, St. Andrew has been temporarily closed following a fire at the facility last evening.
Chief Executive Officer of the Child Development Agency (CDA) Carla Edie, said as a result of the fire, a decision was made to relocate the remaining 66 wards.
She said seven of the 73 wards of the state, who were residents at the facility, were still missing up to late last night.
However, Edie said the CDA is happy that none of the children were seriously harmed and investigations will continue today to determine the cause of the fire.
She said the CDA will be making a report about the missing girls to the police.
Reports are that the fire started about 5.30 last evening and the blaze was put out by several units from both the York Park and Half Way Tree fire stations.
