Out-of-service photocopier angers litigants

Published:Monday | February 13, 2012 | 9:34 AM

Several litigants in criminal and civil matters at the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal have been left fuming, over the failure of the court to produce copies of critical documents since Thursday.

The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre understands that the photocopier at the Courts is out of a toner, which is needed to run the machine.

Employees have explained that the toner costs about $8,000 but it is not being stocked in the court inventory.

This is the second time in three months that the machine has been out of toner.

As a result, the list with cases for trial at the Supreme Court for this week could not be printed.
