Prince Harry named Honorary UWI Fellow

Prince Harry has been named an honorary fellow of the University of the West Indies (UWI).

The title was conferred on the Prince at the new Faculty of Law building, UWI, during his official visit to the university today.

The Prince is on a four-day visit to Jamaica representing his grandmother The Queen, who is this year celebrating her Diamond Jubilee.

Professor E. Nigel Harris, vice chancellor of the UWI presented Prince Harry with a plaque and conferred on him the title of Honorary Fellow to mark the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of The Queen and the 50th anniversary of the UWI as a full fledged degree-granting institution.

Today, Prince Harry also received a symbolic silver medal to mark his visit to the institution.

He also unveiled a plaque at the new Faculty of Law building to mark the Queen’s Jubilee year.
