Police seek help in probing senior cop’s death

The police are appealing for information from anyone who might be able to help their investigation into the sudden death of former Clarendon Police chief Senior Superintendent Dathan Henry.

SSP Henry died at the Kingston Public Hospital on May 6 after a brief illness.

The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre reported yesterday that the Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT), has been asked to probe his death amid fears that he may have been poisoned.

In a statement last evening, the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), said it is standard operating procedure for the police to investigate all sudden death cases until all the facts are established.

However, the CCN said the MIT was asked to take over the investigation after the result of the post-mortem on SSP Henry’s body proved inconclusive.

The police information arm said investigators are now awaiting the result of a toxicology report on samples taken from his body.

The police are asking persons with information that can assist the investigation to contact the MIT at 922-5344 or 948-9181.
