CAPI wants PM to intervene in OCG impasse

The group, Citizens Action for Principle and Integrity (CAPI), wants the Prime Minister to intervene in the impasse between the Office of the Contractor General and the Transport and Works Minister, Omar Davies regarding the three major development projects.
The Contractor General Greg Christie wants the independent oversight panel appointed by the transport ministry, to submit reports to his office on the progress of the projects.
However, Dr. Davies does not believe that is necessary while the three-member panel has said it will not report to the OCG.
Convenor of CAPI, Hugh Fagan, said the situation warrants the intervention of the Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller.
He said the government’s move in obstructing the Contractor General in his duties, runs counter to its position to strengthen the capacity of the OCG.
The three major projects are the north-south link of Highway 2000, the Gordon Cay Container Transhipment Hub and the Fort Augusta Container Terminal.
The government has already signed an implementation contract with China Harbour Engineering Company for works on the north-south link of Highway 2000.
