Gov’t to shed light on London activities

Published:Friday | August 31, 2012 | 11:03 AM

The government is to shed more light on its promotional activities in London during the Olympic Games.

The government said it spent 1 million pounds or J$140 million to promote Brand Jamaica.

It has maintained that it was money well spent adding that it will translate into new business investments and a boost to tourism.

However, this has not stopped criticisms that the country has not realised any tangible outcomes.

The opposition has accused the government of excessive spending and not capitalizing on opportunities to bring economic benefits to the country.

However, the government has dismissed those claims.

It has called a press conference for today to outline further details of activities in London.

The press conference is to be addressed by Minister with responsibility for Information, Sandrea Falconer, President of JAMPRO, Sancia Bennett-Templer and Director of Tourism, John Lynch.
