Myrie completes testimony at CCJ hearing

Jamaican Shanique Myrie has completed her testimony at her Caribbean Court of Justice hearing being held at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston.



Her lawyers have now called her former employer Julian Jackson to the witness stand.



Myrie has brought the Barbadian government before the Caribbean Court of Justice claiming that a cavity search in March 2011 violated Barbadian laws, its international obligations and the revised Treaty of Chaguaramas.



Myrie returned to court this morning to face further cross examination by lead attorney for the Barbadian Government, Queens Counsel Roger Forde.

She maintained that she was subjected to painful and inhumane cavity search by Barbados immigration officers.



Forde also questioned Myrie's claim that the cell in which she was held before deportation to Jamaica was filthy but again the Jamaican woman insisted that her statement was correct.

Suggesting that her denial of entry was not related to her nationality, Forde asked Myrie whether the immigration officer explained to her that she was refused entry because the woman she claims she was going to visit told him she didn't know Myrie.



"No sir," Myrie replied.
