Vere Tech coach Constantine Haughton is dead

Jamaica's track and field fraternity is in mourning following the death of longtime Vere Technical High School coach, Constantine Haughton.




Haughton passed away at the May Pen Hospital this morning after ailing with cancer for the past several months.



Haughton who has been head coach at Vere for many years was responsible for the school's success in middle and long distance events where Vere Technical through the likes of the Turner sisters, Claudine Williams, Madrea Hyman and many others has dominated the Penn Relays.



Only last September, Haughton , known as 'Consie' stepped down as head coach because of illness.



Up to the time of his death, Haughton was in charge of Vere's top athletes Shericka Jackson, Yanique McNeil and Olivia James.
