There are indications that the reviewed health and family life education teaching manual will not be in the public school system for the current academic year.

A controversial section of the curriculum was pulled for review in September last year following public outcry over the inclusion of homosexuality and other sexual activities.

While confirming that the controversial aspect has been removed, Education Minister, Ronald Thwaites says he has instructed the committee reviewing the curriculum to make further changes following the submission of a document about six weeks ago.

He says the document he has seen, appeared too technical.

He says while he expects to receive a final version soon, it’s unlikely that the document will be re-introduced this school year.

According to Thwaites, the process has taken longer than expected to get it right and consult with stakeholders.

The education ministry has admitted that there were breaches in the approval process for the manual.
