Man shot dead while attempting to rescue family trapped in blaze

Leroy Robinson, 54, of McNeils Lane, Westmoreland was killed by gunmen last night.



Police say that he allegedly attempted to assist a family that was trapped in their burning house in Little London, in the parish, when he was shot dead by gunmen.



They say that at 8:30 p.m., Robinson allegedly rushed to the aid of a woman and her son who were trapped in the blaze, which investigators believe was set by arsonists.



While attempting to rescue the occupants, he was shot multiple times by gunmen.



The occupants however, escaped unhurt.



Detectives are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have any information that may assist in bringing Robinson’s killers to justice to come forward.
