UPDATE: Five detained in massive MoBay operations

Three males and two females have been detained following a series of operations in Montego Bay, St. James today.



The operations were carried out by the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Taskforce in collaboration with the Financial Investigation Division.



The police say the predawn operation was carried out in Westgate Hills and Mount Salem as part of an ongoing transnational investigation and resulted in the seizure of over 23 kilograms of hash oil, a quantity marijuana and a stash of cash.



It is reported that during the search of a premises on Mountain View Road in Westgate Hills, the hash oil with an estimated street value of $69 million was seized and a man arrested in relation to the seizure.



The police say during the search of another property on Phoenix Avenue in the same community, money totalling $1.3 million was seized.



A man was also arrested for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at the same premises.



The police say the identities of the persons arrested are being withheld pending further investigations.
