A police corporal has been arrested and charged for breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

Corporal Ian Gray, who is assigned to Mobile Reserve, was charged by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) yesterday.

The charges relate to an incident in December last year during which the 40-year-old corporal is alleged to have solicited and accepted money from a motorist in return for not laying drug charges against him.

A report was made to the ACB and following investigations, a file was prepared and submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who ruled that he be charged.

He was arrested on warrant and brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, where he was offered bail in the sum of $200,000.

A Stop Order was also placed on him.

He is scheduled to reappear in Court on June 16.
