Adam Gomes, the man who reportedly fired a gunshot during an early morning incident involving a prostitute in Montego Bay, has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Gomes is charged with illegal possession of a firearm, shooting with intent and assault.

The police have confirmed that Gomes was charged after an incident, but have not released the details.

However, it is reported that shortly after 2:00 a.m, a prostitute, who was leaving the apartment of a client in the resort town, entered Gomes' car triggering the alarm.

The man's lawyer, Ronald Paris said the prostitute was reportedly confronted by the car’s owner.

Paris said Gomes later fired a shot.

No one was hurt.

The lawyer further said Gomes called the police who responded and seized his gun before taking him taken into custody.

Gomes is a licensed firearm holder.

Earlier, a police source told The Gleaner that Gomes was refusing to cooperate with the police and as a consequence, efforts to swab his hands had failed.

However, the lawyer said the man was acting on his advice not to have his hand swabbed until his legal team was present.
