PM names new senator, Floyd Morris tipped to become president

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has announced the appointment of attorney-at-law Sophia Frazer-Binns to the Senate.



Her appointment takes effect on Friday, May 17, 2013 and follows the resignation of former President of the Senate, Rev. Stanley Redwood.



Sitting Senator Floyd Morris is tipped to become president.



A graduate of Westwood High School, Frazer-Binns established her private practice in 2010.



She previously served at the Kingston Legal Aid Clinic, the Office of The Children’s Advocate and the Land Administration and Management Programme.



Ms Frazer-Binns has been involved in mediation and dispute resolution efforts and has done extensive work in youth and community outreach.



She has been the People's National Party constituency representative for North Central St Andrew, and the secretary for the People’s National Party Youth Organisation Region Three.
