Some St Elizabeth residents to be without water indefinitely

Residents in several communities in St Elizabeth will be without piped water for an indefinite period.

This after the National Water Commission (NWC) announced today that it could not give a timetable for the resumption of normal service at its facility in Southampton, in St Elizabeth.

The facility was closed today to allow for the removal of a motor and a pump.

As a result, the NWC says customers in Southampton, Northampton, Leeds, Jerusalem, Longwood, Olive Park, Brighton and surrounding area, will experience disruption in their water supply.

However, the NWC says as an interim measure, it has made arrangements for water to be trucked to the affected areas.

The company says it is working assiduously to restore piped water at the earliest possible time and adds that it will provide timely updates on the situation.
