CRICKET: Pune Warrior pull out of IPL

Published:Tuesday | May 21, 2013 | 1:14 PM

The Sahara India Group has pulled its team, Pune Warriors India, out of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The move follows the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision to encash the bank guarantee after Sahara failed to pay the franchisee fee.

Sahara, which bought the franchise for $370,000 million in 2010, says it was disgusted by the BCCI's attitude towards it and will not rejoin the league even if the entire franchise fee is waved off.

Pune Warriors finished eighth in the current IPL season, winning four out of their 16 matches.
