PNPYO Kgn Chapter Chair to know fate

Published:Friday | May 24, 2013 | 5:53 PM

The suspended chairman of the Kingston Chapter of the People’s National Party Youth Organization (PNPYO), Keron Woods, is to know his fate in the organisation later today.

Woods has been temporarily relieved of his post since May 8 as the organisation probes allegations that he breached its Constitution.

The PNPYO has called a press conference for 5 p.m. to outline the ruling of the disciplinary committee and indicate what action will be taken against him.

Woods had criticised PNPYO President Alric Campbell for his utterances regarding the holding of a Commission of Enquiry into the 2011 Tivoli Gardens incursion.

Campbell had said it would be useless to hold an enquiry as too much time has passed since the events.

He also said the PNPYO believes the security forces were justified in their actions given the attack on the state by criminals hiding in West Kingston.

However, Woods has accused the leadership of the PNPYO of victimisation saying he was prepared to challenge any attempt to have him removed.
