Gov't to boost output with public-education campaigns

Published:Saturday | May 25, 2013 | 6:18 PM

A series of public-education campaigns designed to sensitise Jamaicans about the importance of productivity to national development, is among the measures to be undertaken by the government as part of its attempt to boost output levels in the public and private sectors.

Labour Minister Derrick Kellier, who made the announcement last week, said there is a lack of contribution and commitment from all able-bodied citizens and noted that this is affecting the country’s ability to build a resilient productivity culture.

Kellier says his administration will have to take steps to build the awareness level in the country and adds that everyone has to be on board.

He says this will enable Jamaican goods to become more competitive both in the local and overseas markets.
