August Town join Rivoli atop NPL Playoffs table

August Town have joined Rivoli United atop the points’ table following three sets of matches in the Jamaica Football Federation All-Island Confederation Playoffs.

The Kingston champion scored an away 1-0 victory over Volvo at Drax Hall in St Ann yesterday to join Rivoli United on seven points in the four-team playoff.

Rivoli United heaped more misery on Wadadah on Saturday with a 2-1 home victory.

That defeat piled more pressure of Wadadah, who just like Rivoli are trying to return to top-flight football.

Wadadah are bottom of the table without a point from three games.

Volvo, the other team in the playoffs, hold down third place with four points.

The return matches start on Wednesday with Wadadah hosting August Town at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay and Rivoli United entertaining Volvo at Prison Oval in Spanish Town.

The top two teams at the end of the four-team playoffs will qualify for next season’s Red Stripe National Premier League competition.
