CRICKET: Bravo to face T&T in Champions League

Published:Wednesday | May 29, 2013 | 9:01 AM

The Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) Cricket Association will not be pursuing all-rounder Dwayne Bravo to represent the country at the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in India.

Information coming out of Trinidad is that the association decided not to go after Bravo because attempts in the past have failed.

T&T qualified for the Champions League by winning the Caribbean Twenty20 title.

Bravo plies his trade for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Chennai Super Kings finished second to Mumbai Indians and according to the Champion League Twenty20 schedule the second place IPL team goes to group B of the Champions League.

This means that Bravo will play against his countrymen as T&T are also drawn in the same group as Chennai.

In addition to Chennai, T&T will also meet the Brisbane Heat from Australia and the Titans from South Africa.

They will also face the second qualifier from the Caribbean League Twenty20 qualifying tournament, which takes place before the main tournament.

The tournament will start on September 17 with the final scheduled for October 6.
