An elderly woman was hacked to death in downtown Kingston a short while ago.

She has been identified as 84-year-old Sylvia Sewell of a Hanna Town Address.

Sewell was a newspaper vendor.

It’s reported that she was sitting and selling newspapers at the intersection of Beckford and Orange streets, Kingston, when she was attacked.

Onlookers say she was approached from behind by a man who attacked her.

She ran and the attacker kicked her leg and she fell.
