Police Sergeant Oneil Patterson, a former LASCO Top Cop, is to appear in the Home Circuit Court this morning on a charge of rape.

This follows a six-page ruling from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which was delivered to police investigators on Wednesday.

The ruling came two days after the file was submitted by investigators from the Centre for the Investigations of Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse (CISOCA).

The DPP's office has also proffered a voluntary bill of indictment, allowing the case to bypass the Resident Magistrate's court.

The charge against Sergeant Patterson is based on allegations that he had sex with his female companion against her will, after they returned from a date on May 23.
