An American visitor is one of two people killed in a robbery in Westmoreland yesterday.

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) says the visitor was killed when members of gang fired shots as they robbed patrons at a business place along Great George Street in the parish capital, Savanna-la-mar, yesterday evening. The CCN says the unidentified visitor and another person were hit. They were taken to hospital where the visitor succumbed to his injuries.

A man identified only as 'Bigga' was later killed by the police during a confrontation with the gang. The CCN says 'Bigga' is wanted for several crimes including murder, rape and armed robbery.

According to the CCN, a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol was seized from the reported gangster. It is suspected that members of the gang used the gun in several criminal activities in Westmoreland, Hanover, St Elizabeth and St James.

The police are continuing the search for the other members of the gang.
