A pedal cyclist was reportedly run over earlier this morning by a truck on Oxford Road, in the vicinity of the intersection with Old Hope Road.

It is reported that the man has been taken to hospital but there is no report as to his condition or his identity.

The twisted cycle, glass fragments and a cap, allegedly belonging to the cyclist were still on the scene when The Gleaner team arrived.

Traffic heading to the intersection was diverted onto Oxford Park Avenue which temporarily became a one-way street.

This caused traffic delays.

Alleged eyewitnesses say the truck driver is adamant he did not see the cyclist and could not avoid the collision.

Personnel from the Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Unit processed the scene.

The roadway was cleared at approximately 9:40 a.m.
