The Trelawny police have charged 42-year-old Marvia Patterson for the murder of a 4-year-old girl in the parish last week.

Miss Patterson, who has been in custody since last Wednesday, is to be brought before the Falmouth Resident Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The body of Natasha Brown was recovered from a sinkhole in the Duanvale community on Wednesday morning.

It is reported that Patterson was seen in the company of the child in an area of the parish called Shirley Hill.

Residents say they saw her carrying a crocus bag with suspicious content and when asked about the contents Patterson reportedly told the residents that she was carrying a pig.

However, under intense interrogation by the police, she directed them to Natasha’s body.
