The Trelawny Police have charged a teenage girl and her mother in connection to the death of a newborn in the parish.

The infant’s body was found in a pit latrine last Thursday in the Stetin community.

The newborn was discovered by residents who became concerned when the teenage girl, who had given birth, could not account for her baby.

The mother and daughter are charged with concealing the death of a child.

They were remanded when they appeared in court yesterday and ordered to return on Friday.

A 23-year-old man, who the police say impregnated the teenage girl, has been charged with carnal abuse.
