Susan Rice to become Obama’s National Security Advisor

Published:Wednesday | June 5, 2013 | 12:06 PM

United States (US) permanent representative to the United Nations, Susan Rice, is set to become President Barack Obama’s new National Security Advisor.

US Officials say Rice will replace Tom Donilon following his resignation after three years.

Rice was once a candidate for the position of secretary of state, but was forced to withdraw after criticism from the Republicans in 2012 in relation to an attack on a US compound in Benghazi, Libya.

Samantha Power, an Obama adviser, will be nominated to replace her at the United Nations.
