Noting that pit latrines are a health hazard, Opposition Senator Robert Montague today tabled questions in the Senate asking Leader of Government Business A.J. Nicholson to provide a timetable for the upgrading of sanitary facilities in the nation's schools, courthouses, health centres and police stations.

The Opposition Senator asked for a list of all schools, courthouses, health centres and police stations that have pit latrine, and has requested to know whether budgetary provisions have been made for those institutions.

"These are places where the poor gets benefits or go for service," Montague told The Gleaner saying its it critical to upgrade the facilities.
