Kartel's second murder case stalled again

Published:Monday | June 10, 2013 | 12:08 PM

The second murder trial of entertainer Vybz Kartel again failed to get underway in the Home Circuit court today.

The trial could not proceed because of the unavailability of prosecutors.

The matter has since been rescheduled to July 8.

The attorneys in the case have complained that the accused have been before the court for more than a year and that this is the fifth time the matter has been put off.

Kartel, whose given name is Adijah Palmer, and co-accused Lenburgh McDonald and Nigel Thompson are on trial in relation to the killing of St Catherine businessman Barrington ‘Bossy’ Burton.

The police say Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walker's Avenue in Gregory Park, St Catherine in July 2011.

Kartel and his co-accused were charged in October 2011.
